Egypt's active monasteries preserve the living continuity of the desert tradition, from the Red Sea wilderness to Wadi El Natrun and the pilgrimage center of Saint Mina.
The Red Sea Desert
- Monastery of Saint Anthony: located near the cave associated with the Father of Monasticism and commonly recognized as the world's oldest continuously active Christian monastery.

Saint Mina
The Monastery of Saint Mina near Alexandria stands beside the ancient pilgrimage center of Abu Mena and remains a major place of prayer and devotion to the great martyr.
